Euphoria fans will never, ever be happier.
Amid reports the long-awaited third season of the Zendaya-led drama had been scrapped, HBO issued a statement confirming plans for new episodes are still on track.
“Euphoria is going into production in 2025,” a rep for the network told The Independent Nov. 8. “Nothing has changed.”
The series, which follows a group of high school students navigating drugs, sexuality and trauma in the age of social media, debuted in 2019 and led to career breakthroughs for several cast members including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer.
Following the conclusion of season two in 2022, production on the third season has faced numerous delays, impacted by the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes as well as the death of Angus Cloud in July 2023. However, HBO previously confirmed filming is set to kick off in January 2025.
In October, Zendaya—whose performance as troubled teen Rue Bennett earned her two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series—reaffirmed the show’s future when she revealed a key detail about season three: it will be set years ahead of where things left off.
“I don't quite know exactly what the season is going to look like,” she told Entertainment Weekly, “but I do know that the time jump is happening and I know it's important because there's only so much high school drama you can deal with—‘and then she cheats on her boyfriend again!’”
Which is why the prospect of fast-forwarding is so appealing to the Challengers star.
“It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school,” she continued, “and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the kind of adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world. I'll be interested to see what happens too.”
