Quaker has expanded its recall to include an additional item, adding to an already-long list of recalled foods from the PepsiCo-owned company in recent weeks due to being potentially contaminated with salmonella.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted the expanded recall notice to include an additional granola bar Wednesday. The Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama 6-count products, with a best before date of Feb. 10 or 11, has been added the the U.S. Recalled Products list. The product was discontinued in September 2023.
The first Quaker recall, issued Dec. 15, largely included granola bars and granola cereals. The second, Jan. 11 recall expanded the list to include additional products, including snack mixes and cereal products.
Salmonella are bacteria that make people sick, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and people can get the infection from a variety of sources, including eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water. Most people with the salmonella infection have symptoms including diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps.
